Appalachian National Scenic Trail, is an entirely mountainous journey, with a length of 2193 miles and a cumulative elevation gain of 464500 pies. It runs through an impressive forest mass, crossing great forests and National Parks of the USA. In other times territories belonging to Indian nations such as the Cherokee, Delaware, Catawbas or Abenakies, places that formed the Thirteen British Colonies and that gave origin to the United States of America. The route crosses 14 states: Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. This means walking and living in the forest, practically like another animal, for a long time, which in the case of our protagonist was one hundred and forty-two consecutive days, becoming the first Thru-Hiker in Spain to do this trail, alone and without support equipment. A truly extraordinary life experience.
The author of this book completed the route with the trailname «Basajaun», a term that in the mythology of the Basque Country (Spain) refers to a character that inhabits the forests, half man, half animal.
